Wait a minute now, some of you may be saying. Isn’t South Park a cartoon? And not just any cartoon, but one that REALLY isn’t appropriate for children?
Well, yes on both counts, but that doesn’t change the fact that if you pay attention to it, it is one of the most politically charged shows I have ever seen. On its 13th season now, the show talks about issues like gay marriage, racism, culture, the economy, Hollywood trends, and, one of my personal favorites, the sensitivity of society to things THEY make offensive.
What’s my recommendation?
If you have some free time, and are not offended by gratuitous cursing and cartoon killing (particularly the same character) then head to http://www.southparkstudios.com and watch an episode or 2. There is a great one about Somalian pirates in season 13 and some fantastic ones in season 12…
