Fair Tax FAQ – Kevin Wade’s guest appearance on The Angel Clark Show

Published July 28, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

Kevin Wade was a guest on The Angel Clark Show on Monday night (July 25th, 2011).  Here is the audio from his time on the show:

Kevin Wade sent me the following information about the Fair Tax before the show:

Let’s Get To Work With FairTax

FairTax is a fundamentally different way for the Federal government to raise its revenue. FairTax is revenue neutral. It is neither a tax increase nor a tax decrease on the American nation. It is just a very simple and fair way for the Federal government to collect its needed revenue. It is also sweeping in its impact on America; her jobs, her prosperity and her future.

FairTax is not a fringe idea. It is presently before Congress as House Bill HR 25 and Senate Bill S 1025. There are over 50 cosponsors today in the House and Senate. Hearings are scheduled this week in the House Ways and Means Committee. Representative John Linder was for a longtime a lone voice in support of FairTax. He is no longer alone.

In detail, FairTax replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax with a monthly cash prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending for the essentials in life. The poor will pay nothing. The wealthiest heavy spenders will pay a rate of 23% inclusive of the final retail sales price. There are no loopholes or special preferences.

FairTax provides dollar-for-dollar federal revenue replacement. Through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment will ensure Americans never face both a national retail sales tax and an income tax.

This nonpartisan legislation (HR 25/S 1025) abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift tax, estate tax, capital gains tax, alternative minimum tax, Social Security tax, Medicare tax, and self-employment tax. It replaces all of these with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax on new goods and services.  The IRS is disbanded and defunded.

FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, when we choose to spend, where we choose to spend and in the amount we choose to spend, not on what we earn.

The FairTax is a fair, efficient, and transparent. The American people will never again file and report their income to the Federal government.

Today’s high profile Congressional consideration of tax reform, as simple and sweeping as FairTax, may not be driven by a sudden clarity of principle and purpose in Washington’s leadership. It is more the result of the rancor and louder rumblings of 300 millions across the fruited plain saying, “Enough is Enough!” and “Times Up!”

The economy is devastated by endless recession. People across the country are looking for practical solutions not tired politicians continuing tired political arguments. People don’t need speeches. They just need work.

The present IRS tax code is an artifact from an earlier time. It punishes working and hiring, economic prosperity and American success.

FairTax doesn’t.

Under FairTax there is no Federal income tax, no Social Security tax and no Medicare tax. You bring home all of your paycheck free of Federal tax, not what is left as under the present system. You take care of your family with all of your check. You pay your rent, mortgage, credit card bill and car payment with all of your check, not what is left. It is only when you shop for new goods and services that you pay your share of the national tax burden. America becomes the best place to work.

Under FairTax, if you operate a business it also has no Federal income tax and no Social Security tax or Medicare tax on employees. You can grow your business with all of your gains to reinvest, not what is left as under the present system. You buy new equipment, expand your shop and hire more employees using everything you’ve earned, not what is left. When you shop for new goods and services for your personal use you pay your share of the national tax burden. America becomes the best place to start and grow a business.

The present IRS tax code collects only from law abiding US residents and businesses filing and reporting their taxes. It is narrowly based.

FairTax isn’t.

Under FairTax everyone in the country will pay. Millions of visiting foreign businessmen, now untaxed, will share the tax burden with each purchase made while in the US. Millions of foreign students, now untaxed, will share the tax burden. Tens of millions illegal aliens, now untaxed, will share the tax burden with each purchase at the retail counter. The large underground economy of car thieves, drug dealers, and human traffickers will finally pay into the Federal revenue stream. With millions more people paying into the FairTax system, law abiding Americans will have less tax burden to carry on their own shoulders.

The present income tax code includes a maximum corporate rate of 35%. This keeps overseas profits of US corporations over there. European profits stay in Europe to expand European facilities. Asian profits stay in Asia to be reinvested to create more jobs there. These stranded profits do not return home the rebuild the economy here.

FairTax returns stranded profits to the US. Under FairTax there in no Federal corporate income tax, but there will be a lot of jobs returning with those homebound stranded profits.

Foreign multinational businesses seek locations around the world to expand and hire. The same tax code obstacles that strand American profits there block foreign investments here.

FairTax unblocks the inbound flow of foreign investment. More jobs are created here in America as new facilities are built and staffed using foreign money.

The present tax code not only collects taxes from every step of American manufacture and every worked hour of wages and salary. It also adds significant paper shuffling “tax compliance” costs to American produced services and goods. Every filing consumes money and resources in its background preparation and cross-checking. Every sought tax loop hole has its own long and winding paper trail requirement. None of this is free. None of this creates a better, higher quality service or good to compete with and turn back the flood of foreign imports.

A recent study indicates the final cost of US made products include 12.5% in Federal tax and tax compliance burden. Our tax code does little for border adjustment of this embedded cost when we try to export. The world markets have choices today. It is not the 1960’s anymore; maybe in Washington, DC but not in a heartland being savaged by global competitors.

Exports bring money into the country the old-fashioned way. We earn it. Today the choice is a Made in China or Made in USA plus 12.5%. Who makes the sale? Who builds the order? Who cashes the paychecks? Our present tax code does wonders for job creation in China. It time to start doing wonders for American families.

Over 80 national economists predict 10% growth in the economy within 12 months of the enactment of FairTax. Growth at 10% cures all economic ills. This happens without tax increases and without more Federal debt. It is called free enterprise. It is how the nation was built and will be rebuilt. FairTax does not simply level the playing field. It rewrites the rules and makes a new game.

The new game is called, “America’s Back and We’re Winning!”

Please remember that this information written about the Fair Tax WAS NOT written by me. I am simply passing the information along.

Can you text and walk at the same time? Philadelphia seems to think you can’t!

Published July 20, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

Reports regarding this story have varied over the past few days.  This writer would like to clear up those concerns for you.

Despite major news sources claiming otherwise, the Mayor of Philadelphia claims that people texting and walking at the same time will not receive a ticket or a fine in Philadelphia.

It is NOT illegal to text and walk in Philly. You will NOT be fined. You will NOT be ticketed.

When asked if the reports were true the Mayor claimed they were “misleading”

In otherwords, the wording of the law is there, but media attention has now been drawn to this program designed to legislate common sense.  You, as the walker/texter, however, may receive a “warning”.

The Gawker seems to think that this is a fine thing, that the men and women who are supposed to be “peace officers” have nothing better to do than maintain civility by ensuring people aren’t doing two things at once.

But the thing is, no, no, there is nothing I would like cops to be doing more right now than giving tickets to these people, unless it is actually arresting them and putting them in jail, or possibly just executing them on the spot Judge Dredd-style. Bring this program to New York and include people who just stop and stand still, right at the head of the stairs, after exiting the subway and I will vote for Mayor Bloomberg a thousand times over.

So, what would you do if someone gave you a “warning” for walking and texting at the same time? Although a warning does not include points on a license or a monetary fine, what happens if you choose to ignore the person attempting to give you the warning? May you be detained? What happens if you refuse to stop or acknowledge that someone is attempting to issue a “warning” to you because you “text while they walk without looking ahead.”

Could you be arrested? Should we next give licenses to walk?

Should there be ‘last call’ laws in your area? Are they discriminatory?

Published July 20, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

Last night, on my show, we discussed the concept of “last call.” This is traditionally when an announcement is made before a bar closes, “15 minutes left to buy alcohol!” What happens after last call is why this is being discussed.

Patrons of the pub will buy as much alcohol as they can in the short period left in the evening where it is “legal.” They are forced (due to the establishment closing) to consume that alcohol in a short period. These patrons are now suddenly thrown out on the street in the midst of their party.

The time that this happens varies based on the state (and even city) in which you live. In Delaware, alcohol sales are illegal between the hours of 1 am and 9 am. In the states surrounding Delaware you may legally sell alcohol until 2 am (in Maryland, parts of New Jersey, and Pennsylvania [including Philadelphia). In Atlantic City, you may sell alcohol 24 hours a day.

One has to wonder whether this prohibition of sales is meant to discriminate against small business owners. In many situations, patrons would prefer to spend more time and money in the establishment(s) serving them alcohol. Many business owners discussed this with this writer, and many saw it to be unnecessary. The term "legislate morality" was used.

Because some people consider it "unsavory" to drink throughout the evening does not mean the time you are legally allowed to do so should be limited. Some people work different shifts than the "day shift" and are awake during different hours than the average "9-5" person.

As someone who works later in the day, this writer's day tends to run during different hours than the "average American." When leaving a friend's house or a bar, one tends to look at the time and consider arriving at their destination. Would you be driving during "drunk rush hour"? You know exactly what "drunk rush hour" is without explanation. Just in case, "drunk rush hour" is about 30 minutes after the bars kick everyone out. "Drunk rush hour" is when all bar patrons are sitting comfortably in their vehicles driving home while the last few drinks they consumed swiftly during "last call" are circulating their systems.

The last point, which may be commonly overlooked, is the high crime rate, which may come from cutting short the evening of people who are just trying to enjoy themselves. Everyone is forced to stop his or her evening at the same time. In my area, the only places still open after the bars close are one 24-hour diner and one 24-hour gas station. As one may imagine, there tends to be a large number of police calls made to the latter location. Interestingly enough, the first location (the diner), although it is busy, tends to be relatively calm.

Simply imagine how much more money could be made by business owners if Americans were "allowed" to drink until they were done with their evening. Simply imagine how much less bored "crime" there would be if Americans were "allowed" to drink until they were done with their evening. Simply imagine what would happen if Americans were "allowed" to purchase alcohol whenever they felt like it.

Do you think there would be chaos in the streets?

Casey Anthony leaves prison – and someone proposes to her?

Published July 17, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

As Rebekah Brooks is arrested, Casey Anthony leaves jail.  Rebekah Brooks is a topic for tomorrow’s show, Casey Anthony is simply upsetting.

As expected, Casey Anthony left jail at 12:09 AM this morning (Sunday) and also as expected, she showed no emotion as she walked through the awaiting crowd.

Casey Anthony was escorted, however, by a rather large number of police

who were just doing their jobs…

(some on horseback)

who were ready to “handle” the crowd of about 1,000 people who were waiting.

One does wonder how much the taxpayers who were there protesting had to pay for the “services” of the police holding them back?

Some members of the crowd even had signs made specifically for those who were “just doing their jobs”.

Amid the signs for Caylee Anthony, this one stood out.

There is another sign which stood out. Before I share this image with you, I want to remind you of the massive amounts of media attention which this trial gathered.  People all over the world now know Casey Anthony’s name and face.

Some people have paid attention to the negative light the media used to paint Casey Anthony in from the beginning of the trial and these people have used that as an excuse for not paying attention to the crime and loss of life.

I repeatedly hear people say that there was not enough evidence to convict Casey Anthony. Therefore I should be pleased that the justice system has worked because, well, obviously, I would hate to be imprisoned for a crime I didn’t commit, shouldn’t that hold true for Casey Anthony?

I think this case is yet another prime example of the failure of the government. The lack of evidence is most likely due to a lack of efficiency as well as a poor case put together by the state.

For those of you who are appalled at the fact that Casey Anthony has walked free today, think about how badly the state’s case was put together.

For those of you who have lost children, I am sorry for your loss.

And for Tim Allen, the idiot below with the sign, do you think sociopaths don’t enjoy the attention people like you throw upon her? I knew there would be people willing to put Casey Anthony on a pedestal, but it truly a shame to see it happening already.  17 people have apparently helped Casey Anthony buy “spicy peanuts” while she was coping with the loss of her daughter…

The fact that Caylee Anthony’s murderer is walking free today is yet another example of why the system is filled with corruption.

An interesting side note - Hugh Hefner has told the following to CNN:

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told CNN’s Piers Morgan that the magazine won’t be offering Anthony a pictorial.

“I wouldn’t reward someone like that for what has happened,” Hefner said.

Is it weird that Hugh Hefner has more morality than those offering her millions for interviews and book deals?

Body Modification vs Body Mutilation – What is “Body Modification”?

Published July 15, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

I watched an interesting documentary last night about “Body Modification”.

According to Dictionary Reference:

Body Modification: any method of permanently adorning the body, including tattooing and piercing

On the other hand, according to Wiki:

Body modification (or body alteration) is the deliberate altering of the human body for aesthetic or non-medical purpose, such as sexual enhancement, a rite of passage, denoting affiliation, trust and loyalty, religious reasons, shock value, and self-expression.  It can range from the socially acceptable decoration (e.g., pierced ears in many societies) to the religiously mandated (e.g., circumcision in a number of cultures), and everywhere in between.  Body art is the modification of any part of the human body for spiritual, religious, artistic or aesthetic reasons.

So, here’s my question.  Look at all of these images.  Are there any that you consider to be body mutilation?  Are there any that you consider to be body modification?  What do you think is the difference between the two?

How much time do you think it takes in a gym to get these… sculpted muscles?

Do you think this tan is a good color? Do you think that SHE thinks it’s a good color?

If these people think that they are making themselves better/more attractive, is it mutilation?

How long do you think this hair takes to style?

Can these tattoos be removed? Is it as easy to remove a tattoo as to remove a botox treatment?

Is this a good way to cover a scar?

Do you think the women above look better than the women below? Do you think the women below haven’t had modifications?

Take the poll. Watch the vid. Share this link. Comment below. Tell me what you think!

Rush Limbaugh vs. Obama: Social Security – Will it continue (like they’ll actually NOT raise the debt ceiling)?

Published July 13, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

As someone in their 20′s, I have always operated under the assumption that I will not be receiving Social Security.  I have no faith that the program will last until I am ready to collect upon that pyramid scheme.

However, someone close to me was in a store today and the woman working behind the cash register was “freaking out” discussing with every customer who came through her line the fact that if the debt ceiling is not raised she won’t get her check.

“The President told us! You watch the news tonight!”

Despite her most likely biased source of information, I heard from my own biased source of information yesterday regarding Social Security checks.

Listen to this clip on Mediaite, and let me know what you think. Do you think the checks will go out, or should people start stocking up on food?  (well, they should always have a Z-Day stash anyway)

Better yet, do you think there’s actually a chance that the debt ceiling won’t get raised? You know they’ll give in…

Thanks for the awesome image!

Hugh Hefner is not dead … or so he says on Twitter (Celeb Gossip Worth Noting)

Published July 12, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

I will never understand the amazement with Hef…

Maybe he has simply lived the dream life of the average male (surrounded by beautiful naked women)

Regardless, tales of his demise are greatly exaggerated (just so you know)

Here’s the buzz:

According to reports, Hefner was said to have died of a heart attack on Monday 11th July at 10:58PM EST.

Would you have believed the reports from your social networking friends, or gone hunting for further confirmation?

But can the Internetz really claim a celeb’s life?

The Internet apparently tried to claim the life of another celebrity last night, as social media reports circulated that Playboy founder Hugh Hefner had died.

Tuesday morning, Hef’s name was a trending topic on Twitter, but it was thanks to users trying to explain that the famed bachelor hasn’t departed yet. Wrote@nattymichelle: “Confession: I felt sad that Hugh Hefner died until I realized it was a hoax. Not nice, Twitterers!”

Perhaps the reports started because someone was concerned heartbreak would do Hef in, seeing that he went through a very public breakup with his former fiancee Crystal Harris in June. But any concern seems to be unwarranted – not only does he have a few new girlfriends, but he’s also looking forward to Lifetime’s special about his wedding-that-almost-was.

CNN, I don’t think Hef had his heart broken, let’s be honest, this “death” is getting him more hits than his cancelled wedding.

I wonder if Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper team has hacked into Hefner’s Twitter? News International is supposed to appear before Parliament…

Michele Bachmann wants to ban porn!

Published July 8, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

Does anyone think that it’s cliche to have a female candidate for president want to ban pornography?

Does anyone think that it’s hypocritical for a “Constitutional Candidate” to talk about banning images?

Learn more about what else was on the pledge that Michele Bachmann signed (she was the first presidential candidate to sign  this pledge).

Rasmussen Reports says 72% favor a free market economy…

Published July 8, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

If you get emails from numerous sources daily (as many do) you may have received an email from Rasmussen Reports today containing this report.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 72% of Likely U.S. Voters believe a free market economy is better than an economy managed by the government. Just 14% think a government-managed economy is better. Another 14% are not sure.

One wonders what this same 72% thinks of taxing internet sales

Is Caylee’s Law a good idea? Take the poll!

Published July 7, 2011 by Sussex County Angel

This petition has gone viral.  I want your opinion!

The petition, located here, states the following:

Caylee’s Law, contact your Senator and Representative: there should be a new federal law created called Caylee’s Law that will make it a federal offense for a parent or guardian to not notify law enforcement of a child going missing in a timely manner.
Let’s keep another case like Caylee Anthony out of the courts.

Casey Anthony waited 31 days before reporting her daughter missing.

What do you think about this law? Should it be enacted or is it too much government interference (regardless of the situation)?
