Jeremy Adams to be on the Angel Clark Show on Radio Freedom tonight!

Published April 30, 2012 by Sussex County Angel

Tonight on the Angel Clark Show on Radio Freedom we have Jeremy Adams!

Jeremy D. Adams, Operation Iraqi Freedom combat veteran, life-long conservative Republican, constructionist constitutionalist, pro-Austrian economics, pro-life, 2nd & 10th amendment and individual liberties champion filed on Friday 2/24 for his candidacy for North Carolina House District 6.

The number one issue? Get government out of our lives! I’m a regular guy who wants to help other regular guys and we want to be left alone.

The government belongs to the people, the people do not belong to the government.

Young people especially have more to fear from a poorly managed over-reaching government. When we amass massive debt & inflation and then don’t intend to pay it back or fix it, the younger generations are left cleaning up the mess.

We cannot use our own beaches, our commercial fisherman are in danger of exinction, we are taxed to death, and we have more to fear from the police state then ever before!

Deliberate mis-education, a reduction in studying the principles of individual and economic liberty and a complete attitude of apathy has created a situation where our liberties have been systematically reduced. We are at a turning point in the history of our nation where we may soon lose what liberty is left and to save the Constitution will require a tremendous revolution of thought and subsequent action.

It is not too late to learn about liberty, why we have it and how we are losing it. If we can get the message out, spend a little time teaching our neighbors, family and friends about the principles that make us free, then we may be able to turn the current course of this nation off its path to depotism and destruction back to the greatest nation on earth.

I am excited to bring forth in this campaign, through a coalition of liberty minded patriots and freedom orientated organizations, a plan to bring the revolution of thought to eastern North Carolinians. Friends teaching friends about liberty and economics. Using media and word of mouth to help people understand why our founders chose the route they did, and while not perfect, were able to give us a system that provides the most amount of freedom to seek after happiness. That system can only be protected with understanding and education of its citizens.

Be on the look out for future short webisodes to break through the misconceptions about economics, how economic public policies that seem to give a benefit to one often times create negative results for all, and what how we can get government to get out of the way so that We the People can create a better North Carolina for everyone.

It is time for a true revolution of thought and a return to love, liberty and prosperity!

Ron Paul delegates may have found a way to even the odds with abstention

Published April 30, 2012 by Sussex County Angel

The 2012 Republican nomination for president is now down to two candidates, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.  Newt Gingrich is expected to suspend his campaign on Tuesday, leaving his campaign over 4 million dollars in debt.  The Republican National Committee endorsed Mitt Romney last week, on the very day that the Gingrich campaign started to discuss exiting the race.

Ron Paul supporters will not let this news get them down.  In fact, supporters of the 12-term Congressman from Texashave continued to grasp delegate positions in states where, despite the caucus winners, delegates are unbound.  There are thirty states where delegates are able to vote for whomever they chose, regardless of primary and caucus results.

The dirty little secret is: At the end of the day, these guys and gals can vote any way they want,” said a Republican who has attended national conventions for decades. “Each state has different (laws) on pledged delegates.”

Ron Paul supporters claim to be dedicated to a movement, not a candidate, and have announced they will support “no one but Paul“.  They have currently been discussing whetherbound delegates may legally abstain from voting in the first round of voting at the Republican convention.

The act of abstention is when a participant in a vote is present for the roll call before the vote, but then purposefully casts either a blank vote or marking the ballot incorrectly.  In many cases, the abstention of voting may be considered an act of protest.  In fact, during the Republican National Convention in 2008, 14 delegates did not vote.  These delegates were present during the roll call, but would not vote for any of the candidates at the time.  Ron Paul supporters claim this would improve the ratio of votes in Ron Paul’s favor.  An example of this is explained with no one abstaining (and a tiny voting pool) Mitt Romney would get ten votes while Ron Paul would get five votes.  Mitt Romney would win, having obtained the 50% +1 needed to grasp the nomination.  With delegates abstaining, this could change drastically.  Mitt Romney could get five votes, Ron Paul would maintain his five votes, and five voters would abstain.  As long as all the abstentions had participated in the roll call, no one would win the 50% +1 votes needed to become the nominee and on to the next round and a brokered convention.

This was a considered option for Hilary Clinton supporters in the 2008 election and was widely discussed.  The question remains will delegates be kicked out of the convention if they abstain from voting.

RNC for Life discusses, state by state, how many delegates are bound and how many are unbound after the primaries, but it has no mention of the Republican state laws regarding abstaining from voting.  There are fines of up to $1,000 for “faithless electors” who do not vote as bound, and many are considering this to apply to the Republican National Convention.  These are not applicable.  An elector is not a delegate.  An elector is a member of the Electoral College, voting in the final election.

Many in the Republican Party are “outraged” at this suggestion by Ron Paul supporters.  They dislike the concept of these “Ron Paul Republicans” breaking the party’s rules to support their candidate.  However, Ronald Reagan’s campaign considered the exact same option in 1976.  Check out this 1976 headline: “Reagan Forces May ‘Steal’ Ford Votes”.

“In secret strategy sessions, Reagan aides have toyed with the idea of asking delegates to abstain as long as their state laws require them to honor the primary verdicts.  This would prevent the President from riding up an early-ballot victory.  Then, in subsequent ballots, they could legally switch to Reagan.”

In fact, Rick Santorum, before suspending his own campaign, had hinted at the fact that he may ask delegates to abstainfrom voting for Mitt Romney.  Gingrich seemed to imply the same thing.  Ron Paul supporters and looking into this without any urging from the Ron Paul campaign.

It seems that each delegate must analyze the Republican Party rules in their own state to see if this form of protest voting would cause the delegate to be kicked out of the convention.  At least 14 delegates did this in 2008.  It seems the Republican race is not over yet.

Yahoo News doesn’t consider Ron Paul a major candidate

Published April 28, 2012 by Sussex County Angel

Yahoo News shared an article Wednesday discussing a record they claim Mitt Romney won.  The record is that on Tuesday, when Mitt Romney won Delaware with 56% and Pennsylvania with 58% of the vote, Romney failed to gather more than 60% of the vote.

According to University of Minnesota political scientist Eric Ostermeier, that marks the first time that a presumptive GOP nominee has failed to reach the 60 percent mark in a contest conducted after his last major challenger exited the race.”

Ron Paul is still in the race, and is a major candidate, whether Yahoo admits it or not.

On Friday, thousands in Texas gathered to see Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul speak.  The Hofheinz Pavilion at the University of Houston slowly filled as supporters prepared to see Ron Paul.  The 12-term congressman from Texas had announced a few days prior that his campaign team would be focusing in Texas, his home state, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Dr. Paul’s campaign events consistently pack the houseflood the streets, and fill stadiums.

2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul attracted an impressive 3,000-plus supporters and undecided voters tonight at his University of Houston town hall meeting.

Ron Paul’s University of Houston town hall meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. CT at the university’s Hofheinz Pavilion, located at 3466 Cullen Boulevard in Houston, TX 77204.  At the event, Dr. Paul discussed his platform of constitutionally-limited government, the restoration of economic and civil liberties, and provisions of his path-breaking ‘Plan to Restore America.’

This concludes the second series of large on-campus town hall meetings with Ron Paul, also held at the University of Texas at El Paso, drawing 1,200 and the University of Texas at Austin, with a crowd of 6,000.

Tuesday’s primaries in five states caused sources close to the Gingrich campaign to inform the media that Gingrich will be dropping out of the Republican race for the nomination next Tuesday.  This means the Republican Party will have two choices for the nomination for president, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.

The Congressman, one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People“, has declared he is not dropping out and is in it to win it.  The crowds drawn to his events seem to emphasize this.  This was the last large, on-campus scheduled event in Texas this week.

Who voted YES for CISPA and Tom Carper responds to his CISPA vote (he’s planning on a yes vote)

Published April 27, 2012 by Sussex County Angel

A friend of mine, Margaret Melson, contacted Delaware Senator Tom Carper regarding his vote for CISPA  (he plans to vote yes).  What follows is his response.

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the Cybersecurity Act. I appreciate hearing from you about this important issue.

As you know, the threat of a catastrophic attack on our critical information systems has grown over the past several years. The Senate Sergeant at Arms recently reported that the computer systems of the Executive Branch agencies and Congress are attacked an average of 1.8 billion times a month. Given the increased sophistication and scale of these attacks, many experts in the cyber intelligence community believe that it is not a matter of “if” a damaging attack will happen, but rather “when” it will happen. If such an attack were carried out, it could cost billions of dollars in economic damage and possibly even thousands of lives.

Unfortunately, current law has not kept pace with the threat of cyber attack. To respond to a major cyber attack in the 21 st century, Senators Joe Lieberman (I-Conn), introduced S. 2105, the Cybersecurity Act, on February 14, 2012. This legislation would direct the Department of Homeland Security to set risk-based security requirements for critical infrastructure like telecommunications networks, electric grids, and financial systems. The owners and operators of these critical infrastructure systems would collaborate with the Department of Homeland Security to develop a plan to protect against an attack and would be able to choose which protective measures ensure security without imposing an undue burden on businesses. S. 2105 has been referred to the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, on which I serve, for further review.

With that said, I have heard from a number of constituents, like you, who are concerned that the Cybersecurity Act would give unprecedented powers to the President to control the Internet. Unlike earlier versions of this legislation, however, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012 does not contain the so-called “internet kill-switch” language that raised many concerns a few years ago. Moreover, this legislation encourages a private-public partnership that shares security risk information and solutions so that, in an event of a serious cyber attack, there will be minimal interference to businesses and consumers.

Please be assured that I will continue to support reasonable measures of legislation that protect free speech while keeping our country safe from a cyber attack. Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or other matters of importance to you.

Sincerely,

Tom Carper
United States Senator

CISPA, or the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act was passed through a surprise vote in the House on Thursday night.  The vote count was 248 ayes with 168 nays.  The bill now heads to the Senate, and if it passes there, to President Obama’s desk.  Obama will be able to sign CISPA or cancel it.

CISPA was scheduled to be voted on by the House on Friday but the House passed the bill after a number of amendments were passed.  Some of these amendments have Americans upset.  This bill will now allow the government to use private information obtained through CISPA to investigate and prosecute “cybersecurity crime”.  The definition of “cybersecurity crime” has also changed.

The new clauses define “cybersecurity crime” as any crime involving network disruption or hacking.

Many believe this is really about making people share their private information.

Find out who voted for CISPA.  Republicans Michele Bachmann and Allen West are included in the ayes.

Ron Paul attracts 1,200-plus voters to El Paso, Texas town hall meeting

Tonight: Michael Badnarik to join the Angel Clark Show

Published April 25, 2012 by Sussex County Angel

The Angel Clark Show will feature Michael Badnarik.

Michael Badnarik decided to run for President in February of 2003 at the urging of friends, as well as students of his popular “Introduction to the Constitution” class. To secure the Libertarian Party nomination, he traveled over 25,000 miles campaigning across the U.S. in the 15 months leading up to the Party’s National Convention in Atlanta. Although Michael was clearly the underdog, he won the nomination after three close ballots.

Michael continued his underdog status in the national campaign. Despite appearing on the ballot in 48 states, more than Ralph Nader, as his candidacy was blacked out by the mainstream media. Frustrated by the bipartisan control of the electoral process, he tried to serve process papers on Commission on Presidential Debates officials in a lawsuit protesting the exclusion of significant third party candidates from the debates. Badnarik and David Cobb, the Green Party nominee, were arrested and handcuffed attempting to peacefully cross the police line surrounding the St. Louis debate. Despite this unprecedented challenge to the legitimacy of the debates, the media virtually censored this story.

While on the campaign trail, Michael found time to write a book about the Constitution entitled Good To Be King The Foundations of Freedom. U.S. Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), known for his integrity and independent views, wrote the forward. Good To Be King is only available in hardcover, and for the time being, only on this website.

Badnarik first began studying the Constitution in 1983, while managing the Braidwood Nuclear Simulator project. In his next assignment, he earned a Secret Security clearance at the Northrop facility charged with developing the Stealth Bomber. His next challenge was training hundreds of employees to use state-of-the-art computer systems at PG&Es Diablo Canyon nuclear plant. His natural talent for speaking and teaching led him to develop his Constitution class.

Gingrich tricks people into attending campaign events in Delaware

Published April 24, 2012 by Sussex County Angel

Tuesday is a big day for primaries.  Five states are up for grabs Tuesday, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island.  Newt Gingrich has spent the last week focusing on Delaware, the second smallest state in the country.  For a candidate whose campaign is over four million dollars in debt a state where one may drive from one end to the other in less than two hours seems like a dream come true.  Gingrich announced Monday that he may have to “reassess” his campaign.  In fact, the rumors are flying that as fast as social media can share that Gingrich will be dropping out by the end of the week.

The First State has been filled with the buzz of the Gingrich campaign, many Republicans so excited to be wooed by a presidential candidate, they could care less how close Gingrich is to dropping out, or that his company, Gingrich Group LLC, is declaring bankruptcy.

Gingrich is hoping to lay claim to the 17 delegates the state has to offer.

Gingrich’s Secret Service detail remains by his side, costing taxpayers over $40,000 a day while the candidate stays in the race.  Gingrich claims that he is only getting what all candidates are legally supposed to have.

“I mean, I am a candidate. We have exactly what we are legally supposed to have. Nothing more and nothing less,” Gingrich told NBC News.

Where is Ron Paul’s Secret Service detail?

Gingrich has pulled surprising tricks in Delaware as well.  One email tells possible delegates of an unplanned meeting held at the last minute on Monday.  If someone wanted to be a delegate or an alternate for the Republican Party in New Castle, this meeting should be attended.  The meeting ended up being a surprise Gingrich campaign event.

This writer has been told the Delaware GOP is “strong-arming Gingrich on the people”.  The Delaware GOP may not be so pleased when the bankrupt candidate they pushed so hard to promote on the state drops out.
