Tarrin has successfully published seventeen eBooks and short stories. He is also a full time liberty activist who runs a news service called The Low Country Liberty Report. He is nationally known for co-hosting the wildly popular Wheels off Liberty show and guest hosting other acclaimed national podcasts. Schiff is president and chief global strategist of Euro Pacific Capital Inc., a broker-dealer based in Westport, Connecticut. Schiff frequently appears as a guest on CNBC, Fox News, and Bloomberg Television and is often quoted in major financial publications and is a frequent guest on internet radio as well as host of the podcast Wall Street Unspun.

He is known for his bearish views on the United States stock market, bond market, the US dollar, and the United States economy in general, which have earned him the nickname “Dr. Doom.”

International Students For Liberty Conference – 2013 – I am here, the party has started

OK, the party actually started yesterday, if you don’t count the pre-game, and I’m sure there was plenty of pre-gaming. I got here (the International Students for Liberty Conference in DC) yesterday and did a liver broadcast of The Angel Clark Show – available here if you missed it. The show included the Liberty Train, with Corey Moore, Mike RinoRemover, and Shaun Rieley. We also had some guests associated with Students for Liberty. Zachary Slayback, from the University of Pennsylvania joined us, Keara Vickers, a graduate of the Ohio University joined us, Nick Roskams, from the University of Leuven in Belgium joined us (his shoes were AMAZING by the way), and Susette Espana, a graduate of the University of Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala joined us. I have to add that Susette’s university sounded awesome. It’s a libertarian college – wow.   I’ll be honest, I crashed early, exhaustion. I hate waking up in the mornings, and boy did I ever have to in order to get here on time.  Students for Liberty asked everyone to be… dressed to impress, and boy did people listen. Right now I am sitting in the “media lounge” and am the one person wearing jeans in a sea of suits. It’s cool, I’m used to it.

Anyway, this morning I headed to Cato for lunch and to see David Boaz.  He gave a fantastic speech. They had a nice little spread of food, and the company, as it seems is traditional here, was all very well dressed.

I’ll be honest, it was my first time hearing David speak, and he was great. I was pleased to see Cato getting involved with SFL. Why, well, obviously, we want to get the concept of Liberty and Freedom instilled in youth, instead of the concept of a nanny government. Boaz, I should add, opened his speech with a Hayek joke. You know you’re in the right place when you hear economics jokes.

Colorado becomes the first state to legalize the recreational use of marijuana

Many people stayed up late Tuesday night anxiously watching the election results. For most, they were watching to see who would be the next president, would it remain President Obama or would Gov. Romney be the next president. Those voters in Colo., however, were watching another close race. Amendment 64, voted for on Tuesday, made Colo. the first state to legalize marijuana for recreational use.

Steven Ettinger was arrested at the Asbury Boardwalk Civil Disobedience Swimsuit Party

So on Saturday I headed up to the Asbury Park Civil Disobedience Swimsuit Party, which ended up being a celebration as the 1958 ordinance was repealed a few days prior to the event.  It seems that the City Council may not have wanted the press that comes with a scantily clad protest.

The ordinance said: “No person clad in bathing attire shall be on the boardwalk or the public walks adjacent thereto.”

Since that changed, most of us expected no one would be arrested.  It seemed we were wrong.

Dave Cahill was an awesome performer.  I spoke along with Eddie Free, Danny Panzella, Garrett Fox, Chris Cantwell, and Adam Kokesh.  During Adam’s speech, he asked Steve Ettinger to show everyone his “Borat style thong”.

After Steve showed his thong, he was arrested for indecent exposure.

After the arrest, the people gathering were told that they were no longer allowed to use amplified sound or sing, so Dave Cahill started singing and playing his guitar to call their bluff – that was pretty awesome to watch, especially after he put on his alien mask.

Steven Ettinger has a hearing to decided whether charges will be pressed. The hearing is July 27th, 2012, at 10 am at the Asbury Park Court.  Steve has created a chipin asking for donations as he has a 9 hour trip (round trip) to get to the court.  He may need even more if he is charged as he may be looking at a $1,000 fine.

Americans pay for Obama’s barber to be flown in from Chicago every two weeks

When was the last time you had your hair cut?  Chances are it has been longer for you than it has for President Obama. German Public Radio reported on Wednesday that the American taxpayers pay for President Obama to have his hair cut every 10 – 14 days.

The president of any country should look his or her best at all times and President Obama is no exception.  Obama was accustomed to having his hair cut by the same man, Zariff, who cut his hair for almost 20 years.  Now that Obama lives in Washington D.C., who cuts the president’s hair every two weeks?

Zariff, the same barber from Chicago, is flown to Washington D. C. from Chicago every 10-14 days.

The barber never says a word about what they discuss. Perhaps that’s also a reason why Obama feels comfortable being around him. Otherwise he would not fly his barber in from Chicago to Washington every ten to 14 days.

Opponents of ACTA had a symbolic win in European Parliament today

Thursday may have been a definitive day in the fight against the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).  ACTA is a multi-national treaty meant to enforce intellectual property rights.  Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, the United States, and 22 countries of the European Union signed in ACTA.  Opponents of ACTA say that the treaty adversely affects privacy, freedom of expression, and other fundamental rights.

On Thursday, a number of committees spoke out against ACTA to the European Parliament (which is ACTA will ultimately be allowed to stay in or be written out of the books forever).  Five committees will give their recommendation to the European Parliament as to whether ACTA should stay.  One of those committees, the International Trade (INTA) committee “owns” ACTA, therefore will most likely recommend keeping the controversial treaty in place.  Three of the remaining four committees gave their recommendation to the European Parliament Thursday.  The Industry, Research, Energy (ITRE), the Legal Affairs (JURI), and the Civil Liberties (LIBE) committees all voted Thursday to reject ACTA.

Thousands head to a grassy knoll in Austin, Texas to see Ron Paul speak! (With PICTURES)

While Ron Paul was speaking to thousands in Austin, Texas on Thursday, CISPA was passed.

Now, on to the positive.

On Thursday, thousands in Texas gathered to see Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul speak.  The grassy knoll in Austin at the University of Texas slowly filled as supporters prepared to see Ron Paul.  The 12-term congressman from Texas had announced a few days prior that his campaign team would be focusing in Texas, his home state, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Dr. Paul’s campaign events consistently pack the house, flood the streets, and fill stadiums.

Tuesday’s primaries in five states caused sources close to the Gingrich campaign to inform the media that Gingrich will be dropping out of the Republican race for the nominationnext Tuesday.  This means the Republican Party will have two choices for the nomination for president, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.

The Congressman, one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People“, has declared he is not dropping out and is in it to win it.  The crowds drawn to his events seem to emphasize this.

The numbers have not been released by Ron Paul’s campaign staff yet.  Until they are, enjoy these pictures!

Who voted YES for CISPA and Tom Carper responds to his CISPA vote (he’s planning on a yes vote)

A friend of mine, Margaret Melson, contacted Delaware Senator Tom Carper regarding his vote for CISPA  (he plans to vote yes).  What follows is his response.

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the Cybersecurity Act. I appreciate hearing from you about this important issue.

As you know, the threat of a catastrophic attack on our critical information systems has grown over the past several years. The Senate Sergeant at Arms recently reported that the computer systems of the Executive Branch agencies and Congress are attacked an average of 1.8 billion times a month. Given the increased sophistication and scale of these attacks, many experts in the cyber intelligence community believe that it is not a matter of “if” a damaging attack will happen, but rather “when” it will happen. If such an attack were carried out, it could cost billions of dollars in economic damage and possibly even thousands of lives.

Unfortunately, current law has not kept pace with the threat of cyber attack. To respond to a major cyber attack in the 21 st century, Senators Joe Lieberman (I-Conn), introduced S. 2105, the Cybersecurity Act, on February 14, 2012. This legislation would direct the Department of Homeland Security to set risk-based security requirements for critical infrastructure like telecommunications networks, electric grids, and financial systems. The owners and operators of these critical infrastructure systems would collaborate with the Department of Homeland Security to develop a plan to protect against an attack and would be able to choose which protective measures ensure security without imposing an undue burden on businesses. S. 2105 has been referred to the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, on which I serve, for further review.

With that said, I have heard from a number of constituents, like you, who are concerned that the Cybersecurity Act would give unprecedented powers to the President to control the Internet. Unlike earlier versions of this legislation, however, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012 does not contain the so-called “internet kill-switch” language that raised many concerns a few years ago. Moreover, this legislation encourages a private-public partnership that shares security risk information and solutions so that, in an event of a serious cyber attack, there will be minimal interference to businesses and consumers.

Please be assured that I will continue to support reasonable measures of legislation that protect free speech while keeping our country safe from a cyber attack. Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or other matters of importance to you.

CISPA, or the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act was passed through a surprise vote in the House on Thursday night.  The vote count was 248 ayes with 168 nays.  The bill now heads to the Senate, and if it passes there, to President Obama’s desk.  Obama will be able to sign CISPA or cancel it.

CISPA was scheduled to be voted on by the House on Friday but the House passed the bill after a number of amendments were passed.  Some of these amendments have Americans upset.  This bill will now allow the government to use private information obtained through CISPA to investigate and prosecute “cybersecurity crime”.  The definition of “cybersecurity crime” has also changed.

The new clauses define “cybersecurity crime” as any crime involving network disruption or hacking.

Many believe this is really about making people share their private information.

Find out who voted for CISPA.  Republicans Michele Bachmann and Allen West are included in the ayes.
