There is plenty of buzz in the news, on Facebook, and on Twitter about the debate last night between Christine O’Donnell and Chris Coons. In Delaware, emails and tweets are flying about opinions while Christine’s supporters debate Chris’s supporters over who did better last night. This Delawarean wants to ask one simple question. Why?
At this point most who are planning to vote are well aware of whom they will be voting for due to fundamental issues and belief structures. Either you are comfortable voting for someone who “dabbled” in Marxism, or you are comfortable voting for someone who “dabbled” in witchcraft (or you are voting third party, in which case you wouldn’t have gone to the debate). The issues which are most important to people are obvious, and those who are politically aware know what they are. Not only that but they know exactly which side the candidates are on.
So, who’s going to say what? Who’s already whispering what? That much is quite clear. Regardless of the highlights of the debate, that is not what’s important. Everyone watching that debate already knew who they were voting for and now everyone speaking has the same opinions they had yesterday, they simply speak with more conviction.
Chris Coons supporters still claim that Christine O’Donnell is a witch and a zealot. His supporters will continue to mock Christine for her personal beliefs on masturbation in the 90’s. His supporters will claim that Christine proved during the debate that she is incompetent and unfit to be a Senator. Chris Coons supporters will state that no matter what was said or wasn’t said during the debate that Chris did well, and they will state proudly and boldly that it is an easy choice, vote for Chris Coons, not because of what he said during the debate, but because he’s a better choice than Christine O’Donnell.
Christine O’Donnell supporters still claim that Chris Coons is a Marxist in desperate need of a razor. Her supporters will continue to say that regardless her beliefs in the past, the things Christine did in the 90’s (or refused to do) were much better than a large majority of the population. Her supporters will continue to point out that the mainstream media despises Christine regardless of what she says or does. Christine O’Donnell supporters will state that no matter what was said or wasn’t said during the debate, Christine did well, and they will state proudly and boldly that it is an easy choice. Vote for Christine O’Donnell or support the big government, socialist agenda (or the big government, Marxist agenda).
For those of you who are curious, did I watch the debate? No. Did I see clips of the debate? No. Will I watch the debate? No. I already know who I will be voting for (and I believe you do as well).
