On Thursday, Ward 8 D.C. Councilman Marion Barry apologized for the disparaging remarks earlier in the week directly after he won his election. Marion Barry claims the remarks he made at an election day campaign event were not meant to insult the city’s Asian community.
Barry has made headlines after his remarks:

Barry also said that he was not going to allow a group of people to exploit his district and that he has no problem with Asian businesses in the area, but he wants them to “come right“.
On Thursday, Barry began tweeting about his statements. He went so far as to take images of his examples of dirty shops, each of which happened to be Asian.
Marion stated April 5th at 12:54 pm that his comments were taken out of context however at 12:36 pm, Barry had tweeted out an image of an Asian businesses that needed to be improved in his opinion.
