On Sunday, Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul’s supporters took to the streets of Philadelphia by the thousands in the rain to declare their love for liberty and the “Champion of the Constitution”. The 12-term Congressman from Texas had thousands expected to attend the Philadelphia rally for Phreedom 2012 on the lawn at Independence Hall, rain or shine.
2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul drew a remarkable 4,300-plus voters to a major campaign rally he held on the Independence Mall in Philadelphia despite poor weather conditions that would have kept supporters of other candidates away.
Event organizers noted that, despite the inclement weather, supporters and undecided voters greeted the 12-term Congressman from Texas with the characteristic enthusiasm for which his crowds are known. It had rained all day and with chilly temperatures to boot, many attendees responded that they were cold, uncomfortable, and feeling poorly. And yet, the people perservered for Paul.
Also noteworthy is that the campaign event took place in the footsteps of America’s modern founders, who conceptualized, advocated for, and created a modest federal government of the kind Ron Paul has been promoting for more than three decades.
Ron Paul’s campaign rally took place on the lawn at the Independence Mall Visitors Center, located at 1 North Independence Mall West (b/t Market and Arch Streets), Philadelphia, PA 19106. The rally commenced at 1:00 p.m. ET, while Congressman Paul addressed the crowd at around 2:30 p.m. Dr. Paul discussed his platform of constitutionally-limited government, the restoration of our civil and economic liberties, and provisions of his path-breaking ‘Plan to Restore America.’ In addition to keynote speaker Ron Paul, featured speakers included Paul backers Pennsylvania State Senator Mike Folmer (R-Lebanon) and former CIA officer and Bin Laden Unit leader Michael Scheuer, both of whom have endorsed him for the presidency.
The day started with a VIP brunch at the Interstate Draft House in Philadelphia. At the bruch, those who paid the fee for the private gathering were able to enjoy a brunch with Michael Scheuer, Karen Kwiatkowski, Adam Kokesh, Larken Rose, Julien Heicklen, Jordan Page, Tatiana Moroz, TMOT, and more! Despite the rain, many who attended the VIP brunch left excited and ready for the main event.
Starting at 1 pm, Philly Phreedom featured live music, guest speakers, and numerous vendors representing many different liberty-oriented groups. Speakers included not only Dr. Paul, but also Michael Scheuer of Non-Intervention.com and James Padilioni Jr of Students For Liberty. There were also live performances by Jordan Page and Tatiana Moroz.
Philly Phreedom was a rally organized for freedom loving individuals. The speakers were selected quite carefully. This was evident based on the number of people who travelled to attend this event, and spend a day in the rain discussing sound monetary policy and liberty.
“We have selected the speakers based on their well researched, primary-sourced, no-holds-barred look at US foreign policy as well as the banking system we the people are subject to use.”
The Philly Phreedom Rally had a rain contingency plan. Tents were put up over the vendors and the stage. Representatives were there for Ron Paul Radio and the Free State Project. The primaries in Pennsylvania and Delaware (a neighboring state) are on Tuesday.
